After Mohammed Kudus agreement, Tottenham now in talks to sign £50m Newcastle target, he’s keen to leave

TBR Football understands that Thomas Frank is pushing Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in signing Yoane Wissa, but could face competition from Newcastle United.

The North London club are looking to reinvigorate their attacking options and have now turned their attention to the 28-year-old, after reaching an agreement for Mohammed Kudus.

Wissa was outstanding under Thomas Frank last season as he netted 19 Premier League goals for the Bees, forming a deadly duo with Bryan Mbeumo.

Moving for a player who turns 29 in just under two months would be unusual for Spurs, however, their new boss has a strong desire to sign him.

Tottenham and Newcastle open talks with Yoane Wissa

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have now commenced talks with the representatives of Yoane Wissa, sources have informed Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent at TBR Football.

Wissa was a target for Tottenham back in January, but the Lilywhites decided to prioritise a move for Mathys Tel instead.

Eddie Howe’s side just missed out on Joao Pedro, who joined Chelsea instead, and the Magpies view him as a strong alternative.

Brentford sources suggest that they would want around £50m for the striker this summer, but that appears to be unlikely at this stage.

The player is keen to secure a transfer away from the Gtech Community Stadium this summer, but there is no indication of his desired destination as of yet.

Frank would therefore need to try to convince Wissa to make the switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over St James’ Park should both clubs accelerate their talks.

Yoane Wissa’s record under Thomas Frank

Wissa enjoyed four successful seasons playing under the 51-year-old, as he netted 49 times in 149 matches for the Bees.

The Congolese international now appears ready to make the step up to join a club that will be playing in Europe next term.

Tottenham and Newcastle would, of course, be able to offer him Champions League football, which is an opportunity he would surely jump at.

However, the issue he may find is that Brentford would likely be reluctant to allow both Mbeumo and Wissa to leave during the same window.

The West London club have already lost their manager, several members of staff and Christian Norgaard to Arsenal.
