After missing out on Radu Dragusin, Napoli now want to sign ‘brilliant’ Tottenham player

Napoli could move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier after seemingly missing out on Radu Dragusin to the North London club.

Tottenham are closing in on a much-needed addition at centre-back after agreeing a fee with Genoa for Radu Dragusin.

Florian Plettenberg broke the news this morning that Spurs have reached a ‘total agreement’ with the Serie A club.

Spurs will pay a fee worth around £21.4 million plus add-ons to land the Romanian, with Djed Spence possibly going the other way.

Tottenham have faced competition from Napoli and Bayern Munich for Dragusin’s signature. But they appear to have beaten both clubs to the signing.

And with Napoli missing out on the 21-year-old, it could lead to them targeting a move for Eric Dier.

Napoli want to sign Dier

reports that Bayern hold a strong interest in snapping up Dier this month.

The 29-year-old’s contract is set to run until the summer and will be available on a free transfer in a few months.

The outlet notes that Napoli are keen on Dier after also expressing an interest in Dragusin, while West Ham have been linked with a move.

Dier has struggled for minutes since Postecoglou’s arrival over the summer and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him move on.

The Englishman has managed just four appearances in the league this term, despite the fact Spurs have been without both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven for large spells.

Indeed, Postecoglou has often preferred a make-shift centre-back partnership of Emerson Royal and Ben Davies.

Dier has been a ‘brilliant’ servant to Tottenham over the years but it does feel like to the right time for him to seek out a new challenge.

With his contract set to expire over the summer, it would be a huge plus if Spurs could pick up a small fee for the centre-back this month.
