After Jhon Duran, West Ham could also hold talks to sign ‘elite’ £25m striker this week

According to a recent report, West Ham United could accelerate a deal to sign a highly-rated striker on the continent this week.

The Hammers have been active in the summer transfer window having already added Luis Guilherme and Max Kilman to their ranks.

Julen Lopetegui has taken the reins with the intention of returning to Europe, so he’ll be hoping for plenty of new additions to help assemble a squad capable of playing his possesion-based brand of football.

That said, it seems West Ham are now ready to push forward for a deal to sign a prolific striker.

West Ham could hold talks for Jonathan David this week

According to , West Ham United could hold talks to sign Lille striker Jonathan David this week.

David is also a target of Tottenham Hotspur but The Hammers are now ready to intensify their interest in the Canada international.

Following Canada’s exit from Copa America, the deal could now quickly accelerate with a £25m price tag mooted.

David has one year remaining on his deal.

Jonathan David statistics

David enjoyed a prolific season in Ligue 1 last term, netting 26 times whilst laying on nine assists, helping Lille to a fourth-placed finish.

The 24-year-old also has a really impressive record with his country, too, finding the net on 27 occasions across 52 outings.

West Ham are also keen on Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran but it remains to be seen who they’re prioritising of the two.

Duran would cost in excess of £30m, so perhaps they’ll go for David as the cheaper alternative, allowing more funds to be allocated elsewhere.
