After Elliot Anderson, Newcastle also exploring exit for another ‘underrated’ homegrown player
Having sold Elliot Anderson to solve their PSR concerns, Newcastle United are also considering an exit for a midfielder who played 46 times last season.
Right now, Eddie Howe and his staff will likely just be taking stock after a whirlwind 48 hours or so for the club.

In some regards, Newcastle pulled it off – they were able to reportedly recoup over £60m in player sales before the deadline, easing any concerns of a point deduction.
However, Newcastle’s fire-sale of their exciting youngsters last weekend left little room for admiration.
Yes, the club achieved good fees for both Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson, but they weren’t players Newcastle wanted to lose.
Both could have been an integral part of the club’s future under Howe, but will instead now thrive for their Premier League rivals.
That being said, any further departures this summer will be strictly on Newcastle’s terms.
And to that end, it still seems as if several players could leave Tyneside this summer, paving the way for a small squad rebuild.
Newcastle exploring exit for Sean Longstaff who has one-year left on his contract
Martin Dubravka, Ryan Fraser and Isaac Hayden seem three obvious candidates to leave, players now surplus to requirements.
However, it may be a little more surprising for Newcastle fans to hear report that the club have been actively exploring an exit for Sean Longstaff.

Longstaff, who is now 26-years-old, made 46 appearances for Howe last season, and was an important player amid all of the injuries the club suffered.
But with one-year left on his deal, Newcastle could be open to a departure for the ‘underrated‘ midfielder.
The report states that no definite decision has been made on Longstaff’s future, which is the same for Callum Wilson, and Kieran Trippier, who are also entering the final year of their contract.
Evidently there’s a lot to sort for Newcastle, who will just be immediately relieved that they have avoided a potential point deduction.
But the dust will need to settle quickly, and Howe and his recruitment team will be aware that a considerable proportion of the summer has already elapsed.
That being said, Newcastle haven’t given up on signing an ‘electric’ Premier League forward this summer.
