‘Why?’, ‘What a brilliantly run club’: Some Liverpool fans react after £50k-per-week ace signs new contract

Some Liverpool fans were reacting after number two Adrian signed a new deal at the club.

The Spanish goalkeeper has put pen to paper on a new deal at Anfield after he was due to be a free agent at the end of this month.

He joined the Merseysiders in the summer of 2019 and has been back-up to Alisson ever since.

The Spaniard shared back-up duties with Caoimhin Kelleher last season, appearing six times.

Adrian has endured a rollercoaster ride since his move to the team. He was the hero in the UEFA Super Cup win over Chelsea, however, was at fault during the Champions League exit to Atletico Madrid.

TBR View: Adrian deal a mistake, Spaniard proves a liability

The 34-year-old’s performances have been rather inconsistent since his arrival a couple of years ago.

His performances away to Chelsea and at home to Diego Simeone’s men makes him a liability.

Retaining him ahead of next season is a mistake from Jurgen Klopp given the progress of Kelleher.

It would’ve been better for Liverpool to make the Irishman their number two as opposed to offering Adrian a deal.
