Adrian and Luis Garcia rave about Liverpool defender on Instagram after Leipzig win
Nat Phillips produced a sparkling performance as Liverpool earned a second-leg 2-0 win and a 4-0 aggregate victory over RB Leipzig to progress – and both Luis Garcia and Adrian have reacted to his display on Instagram.
Phillips, 23, was entrusted with just his 12th senior appearance for Liverpool on Wednesday night as Jurgen Klopp entrusted his side to secure a place in the last eight of the Champions League. They did just that, winning 2-0.
Sadio Mane and Mo Salah scored second-half goals to progress – having both scored in the first leg. It was a dominant performance from the Reds, not least from £2.5million-rated () Phillips.
He kept the likes of Youssef Poulsen, Alexander Sorloth, Emil Forsberg and Justin Kluivert quiet, helping Liverpool qualify for the quarter-finals. Liverpool applauded Phillips after the match, with a post on Instagram.
a new ‘long-term deal’ in the summer of 2019 before he joined Stuttgart on loan, but claim that his current deal expires this June. Judging by Wednesday’s display, he needs to have his deal extended.
Indeed, plenty of fans were full of praise for Phillips after the win – as were a number of former players including Garcia and Jose Enrique. Teammate Adrian also applauded the centre-back, after another impressive outing.
Garcia, a Champions League hero for Liverpool, gave a three-word verdict of “Trust, belief, success”.
