Adam Bogdan makes surprise claim about Liverpool flop Markovic
Former Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan has claimed former Reds winger Lazar Markovic was actually something of a genius in training.
The 30-year-old – who was released by the club this summer – was reflecting on his time at Anfield when he made the surprise comment.

Bogdan joined the club in 2015 from Bolton Wanderers, with Markovic having signed the previous summer in a £20 million deal from Benfica ().
Hopes were high for the Serbia international under Brendan Rodgers, but he failed to impress at Anfield.
He made 34 appearances in all competitions in his debut campaign, but was then farmed out on loan four times before leaving the club permanently for Fulham in January 2019.

Asked for the player he thought was the best trainer, Bogdan said: “There were a lot. Sturridge, his finishing is amazing. From one step, he could find any corner. Coutinho was amazing as well.
“Lazar Markovic was a genius in five-a-side games. It’s really, really hard to pick one.”
TBR’s view
He may have been a ‘genius’ in five-a-side games but Markovic was unfourtunately very poor for Liverpool in actual games.

To hear him branded in this way must leave some fans confused as to how someone supposedly so talented was as bad as he was.
Markovic was only 20 when he pitched up at Anfield – perhaps his age, combined with his price tag, simply made it impossible for him to cope with playing for a huge club like Liverpool.
