AC Milan’s reported Stefan Johansen interest will baffle Fulham supporters
On Friday, Sky Sports that Serie A giants AC Milan were interested in signing Fulham midfielder Stefan Johansen in January.
For a player who can barely get a game at the Premier League strugglers, Fulham fans will be bewildered by the Italian club’s pursuit of Johansen.
The Norwegian international was undoubtedly a crucial part of the Whites’ promotion core, providing effervescent energy, attacking purpose, and determined tackling in the centre of the park.
Yet once Fulham entered the top flight, Johansen’s opportunities have understandably been limited, and the 27-year-old has not looked up to the task of playing Premier League football in his rare appearances this campaign.

Out of his 12 Premier League matches this season, Johansen has come off the bench on eight occasions, and was recently dropped out of the matchday squad for the Wolves and Huddersfield matches.
Ibrahima Cisse, the central midfielder who barely saw the pitch for Fulham in the Championship, was even preferred over Johansen and handed a start against Arsenal on New Year’s Day.
Johansen is still warmly regarded in SW6, but it is abundantly clear his quality is not up to scratch for the Premier League — a fact that makes Milan’s interest baffling.
Fulham would do well to offload Johansen to Italy for a substantial fee in January, yet it remains to be seen what AC Milan have in mind for a back-up midfielder at one of the Premier League’s worst clubs.
