‘Abysmal’: Roy Keane can’t believe what Tottenham did at 2-0 down against United

Tottenham were hammered by Manchester United at home this evening and pundit, Roy Keane, was quick to criticise the North London outfit.

Keane was watching on from the studio as Tottenham once again wilted under Nuno Santo. A masterclass in attacking from Cristiano Ronaldo put Spurs to the sword, and Santo had little to no answer for United’s play.

Tottenham offered little to no threat in attack. Harry Kane was a shadow of his former self, while the likes of Son, Lucas, and more struggled.

And Keane, immediately after the game, lambasted Tottenham for what they did during a 74th minute corner.

“I couldn’t believe it. The biggest criticism I can give this Spurs side is that in the 74th minute, they’re 2-0 down, they get a corner, United bring every player back. And Tottenham leave three players back!!,” Keane .

“You’re 2-0 down at home. You’ve got to show some intent to try and get back into the game.”

The defeat for Spurs means it’s now three in the last five. And after being on the fifth or sixth choice to replace Jose Mourinho in the summer, the pressure will now be building on Nuno Santo.

TBR’s View: Keane is bang on, Tottenham were miserable

And that point Keane makes has to come from the coaching staff, which is a big worry for Tottenham. It almost seems like the job is too big for Santo, with all due respect.

He’s doing nothing to endear himself to the fans or players. From the outside looking in, it’s so negative. Even the substitution he made, bringing Lucas off for Bergwijn, was badly received.

Tottenham have a lot of soul searching to do now after that against United. Paratici and Levy also need to be having a long, hard look at things. It could be, that they’ve simply got this one wrong.
