‘Absolutely outstanding’: BBC pundit says he just loves 2021 Tottenham signing now

Jonathan Woodgate wrote in his column on that he absolutely loves the way Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero plays.
Spurs hosted Leicester City yesterday in a game that they simply had to win. Antonio Conte wouldn’t have been happy with the way his side started, but after Harry Kane gave them the lead, the nerves settled down.
Dejan Kulusevski only came on for the final 35 minutes and we have to say, he became the star of the show. He was in a league of his own compared to other players and was arguably the man of the match.
However, the one player who caught Woodgate’s eye is Romero, who he branded as ‘absolutely outstanding’.
Jonathan Woodgate: I love Tottenham star Cristian Romero
The ex-Spurs defender wrote: “It’s not just up front where Spurs impressed me, though. In defence, I thought Cristian Romero was absolutely outstanding again.
“As a former centre-half myself, I just love the way Romero plays. He is always on the front foot and aggressive, which made a difference today with the two important tackles he went into, and won.
“That showed me how much he wanted it, but he’s a clever player too.
“He gets himself in good positions and is always there if someone makes a mistake. They are going to need more of the same in the next few weeks.”

The highlight of Tottenham star Cristian Romero’s performance yesterday is his two tackles that led to Son Heung-min’s opener.
The Argentine won the ball back with a good tackle initially and then carried on and won back possession with an even better challenge. Those two moves pushed the ball to Kulusevski, who slotted the ball into the path of Son, and the South Korean did the rest.
In his 90 minutes yesterday, Romero made five clearances, three tackles and three interceptions. He also won seven of his 10 attempted duels, completed all of his dribbles and wasn’t dribbled past by a Leicester player once in the entire game. ()
Romero, who joined Tottenham last summer, is proving to be a really good signing for Spurs, and the fact that he’s still only 24 means he’ll only get better.
