‘Absolutely no doubt’… Peter Grant says ‘magnificent’ 28-year-old would be a great signing for Celtic

Peter Grant has said that he believes Hearts striker, Lawrence Shankland, would be a great signing for Celtic.

As the transfer window ticks to its close, it seems that the Celtic fans are not going to get the signings that they are craving.

But the former Celtic hero has urged Celtic to look at Shankland as Grant believes he could be a great signing for the club.

Grant said [], “You never know. When you’re talking about top-quality players, there is more than one club going to be interested that’s for sure.

“Could he do a job for Celtic? There’s absolutely no doubt. He can score goals and we said that before.

“If you’ve got a goalscorer then you’ve always got an opportunity. You have to create the chances don’t get me wrong but you seen his goal last week, the wee ricochet back to him and the way he finished it was magnificent.

“He keeps getting into the box to put the ball in the back of the net and he has the makings of a very good striker.

“And as I say, Celtic or Rangers would be more than happy with him in their team.”

After having initial doubts, I am starting to warm to the idea that Shankland could be a decent signing for Celtic.

His numbers for Hearts this season have been nothing short of remarkable. The Scottish Premiership‘s top goalscorer on 14 goals, there is no doubt Shankland could do a very good job for Celtic.

With 19 in 30 appearances in total, Shankland could take the burden from Kyogo Furuhashi who has found it difficult to maintain the goalscoring form of last season. []

Will Celtic part with the £3m it would take to get him, we have but a matter of hours to find out.
