‘Absolutely incredible’… Pundit says Aston Villa man is just nowhere near as good as some make out
Janusz Michallik has suggested that one Aston Villa man is nowhere near as good as some would believe, insisting that it was incredible what he did on Sunday against Tottenham.
Unai Emery will wonder what else could 𝕴have gone wrong for his side yesterday. They were beaten 4-0 by Spurs. Meanwhile, Ollie Watkins looked uncomfortable for 𝓡much of the first-half after a challenge from Micky van de Ven. And of course, John McGinn was sent off for a rash challenge on Destiny Udogie.
The result saw Ange Postecoglou’s side close the gap to the Villans to just two points. Villa have now won just seven of their last 17 games in all competitions since beatin🌳g Arsenal to move to within two points of top sಌpot in the Premier League table in December.
Unai Emery criticised after heavy Aston Villa defeat
Emery took a gamble to opt for a back five against Spurs. Unfortunately for the Spaniard, the gamble did not pay off. And Tottenham were absolutely devastating in the second-half, putting themselves on the road to victory evenღ before McGinn’s wild swipe at Udogie.

Emery has rightl🔯y received a lot of plaudits this season. However, speaking to , Janusz Michallik believes that Sunday’s result showed why he is not in that top tier of managers.
“Before we even go into it, it’s a question of approach, a question of philosophy because this was totally on Unai Emery. He played this game not to lose. He was at home with a chance to put Spurs away in tܫhat race for the Champions League. With a win, eight points, I would’ve said with a draw as well,” he said.
“I think that Unai Emery is a very good manager, but he’s nowhere near the top, top manager as some would make him out to be. So I don’t want this to sound harsh, but his name has popped again amongst the biggest clubs. He’s been at some big clubs. And up until now,๊ he’s proven at the highest level, he’s lacking.
“To me, it𝓀 is absolutely incredible to come out in a game like this, with implications as I’ve mentioned, five points before the game, to attack at home, to concede possession totally, and even though Spurs didn’t create any chances in the first-half, I always felt they were the more balanced team, the better team, the team that’s finally getting back the players that they wer𝓀e missing for such a long time.”
Still potentially a fantastic season for the Villans
Sundaღy’s result would have been a real sickener for Villa. However, there is still an opportunity for this to be an in💙credibly special season for the club.
When Emery took over, the Villans were on the periphery of the relegation battle in the Pr🃏emier League. Just over 16 months later, Villa are left devastated by a defeat in the race for the top-four.
You can guarantee that they will be desperate to make amends in thܫe comingꦦ weeks.
