Martin O’Neill has told that some of the criticism thrown at Celtic captain Scott Brown has been unjust.
The veteran midfielder has drawn criticism this season from some pundits, with the Hoops struggling to find their best form.
Celtic won the 2019/20 Scottish Cup yesterday, defeating Hearts on penalties after a 3-3 draw at Hampden Park.

Brown has been one of several players to come under fire from supporters and pundits during the 2020/21 campaign.
Former boss O’Neill has leapt to his defence, however.
“There’s a time to think about retirement, of course, he isn’t getting any younger.
“But, he’s been a fantastic signing for Celtic, absolutely fantastic, and he’s had a great career.
“He’s been written off a number of times and bounced back. He’s had a great career and he makes a pointed remark about ex-professionals; I must admit that’s something that does really gall me in the game.
“Normal pundits, absolutely, but ex-pros having a go?”
TBR View – Celtic will have to think about a replacement for Brown at some point
The 35-year-old is still very mich Celtic’s captain but there is perhaps a notion that he is being relied upon too much.
Despite his advancing years he is still being asked to play each week and perhaps that is too much.

A club like Celtic should have competition in every area of the pitch and perhaps the Hoops must look for a similar option to Brown.
That said, some of the criticism has been unjust.
Despite his age, he rarely lets Celtic down and is the brains of Neil Lennon’s team.
Yesterday’s win might see the Hoops win some respite from supporters as they trail Rangers by 16 points in the league.
