‘Absolutely excellent’… Tottenham Hotspur loanee wins Man of the Match award as his new manager blown away
Japhet Tanganga is making a real impact at Millwall.
After breaking into the Tottenham side under Jose Mourinho, Tanganga’s career has stalled in recent times.
Tanganga played just seven times last season and didn’t even appear once during a loan spell with German side Augsburg.
The 24-year-old needed to play and Tottenham allowed him to join Millwall in January, attempting to get his career back on track.
Tanganga’s move is working well so far as he scored the opener in Millwall’s stunning 2-1 win over Southampton on Saturday.
Japhet Tanganga earning praise at Millwall
Millwall sacked boss Joe Edwards last week, bringing club hero Neil Harris back in as manager.
Edwards was the man who brought Tanganga to the club, so that sacking could have caused problems.
Tanganga has instead made a dream start under Harris and will now be hoping to pull Millwall away from danger.
Harris has now hailed Tanganga, telling that he felt Tanganga was ‘outstanding’ against Southampton.
Harris added that Tanganga must be brave in order to become a real Millwall centre back and branded his display ‘absolutely excellent’.

”If he wants to be a Millwall centre-half he has to be brave at both ends of the pitch. I thought we defended our box superbly today and Japhet was outstanding, absolutely excellent,” said Harris.
, with Millwall’s official X account hailing him for a ‘dominating display’.
This is just what Tanganga needed and probably what Tottenham wanted to hear.
Tanganga is under contract until 2025 and strong displays at Millwall may drive interest from other clubs.
There is unlikely to be a future for Tanganga at Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou and he ultimately needs to leave Tottenham permanently.
Maybe that will be to Millwall, maybe some Premier League teams will still have some interest, but making a strong start at Millwall should help Tanganga find a new permanent home at the end of the season.
