‘Absolutely crazy’: Graham Roberts reacts to moment in Spurs draw at Southampton

Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has hit out at the decision to disallow Harry Kane’s goal for Spurs at Southampton.

Antonio Conte’s charges played out a 1-1 draw on the south coast, but had the ball in the back of the net twice more.

Tottenham fell behind in the 25th minute to a superb James Ward-Prowse effort.

However, Spurs won a penalty on 39 minutes, from which they equalised.

Mohammed Salisu brought down Son Heung-min, who was chasing a Harry Winks pass.

The referee sent Salisu off, with Kane stepping up and duly converting from 12 yards in the 41st minute.

On 53 minutes, the England international thought he had completed the turnaround.

Kane collected Winks’ pass to fire past Fraser Forster and seemingly put Tottenham 2-1 up.

However, VAR intervened due to the tightest of offside calls against the forward.

And Roberts was not impressed:

Later on, Forster then spilled a cross before back-heeling it into his own net.

However, the goal was ruled out due to a foul by Matt Doherty.

Tottenham had to settle for a point due to a mix of controversial decisions and an overall below-par display.
