‘Absolutely brilliant’ star publicly claimed he rejected Nuno’s Tottenham, now Conte reportedly wants to sign him

Tottenham Hotspur’s primary defensive target last summer was Villarreal star Pau Torres, and it looks like the﷽ Spaniard is on Spurs’ wish list again.

The 25-year-old has been one of the best defenders in Spain for a couple of years now. He has been brilliant for the Yellow Submarine and under ex-Arsenal boss Unai Emery, he has t🐠aken his game to a whole new level.

Torres was one of Villarreal’s most important players when they won the Europa League last season🔯. His p🌳erformances were so good that multiple top clubs from Europe were keen to sign him, including Tottenham.

Pau Torres publicly claimed he rejected Tottenham

Back in November last year, Torres sat down for an interview with the . He was asked about Tottenham’s offer to sign him and the Spaniard claimed he rejected them bﷺecause he wanted to play in the ♑Champions League with Villarreal.

He said: “The pull of playing the Champions League with 𒀰the team from my town was bigger (than joining Tottenham). I was clear from the start.

“This is only the fourth t🎃ime Villarreal reached the Champions League, which shows how hard it is and it was a dream to play the competition with my lifelong club.

“The president didn’t put pressure on me, even though theꦦy could make a lo𝔍t of money. He always said ‘the decision’s yours’, that he’d respect it. I appreciate that.”

Conte wants to sign him for Spurs now

reveal this week that Tottenham are still interested to 𝕴sign Torres. Antonio Conte is keen to bring in another centre-half this summer and the Villarreal man is reportedly one of the options.

Spurs are set to face competition from Manchester United this summer for the talented 25-year-old defender, who was as ‘absoﷺlutely brilliant’ and someone who’d be perfect alongside Cristian Romero.

The re𒅌port claims that Villarreal, who are in the semi-final of the Champions League, are prepared to let Torres go this summer and are looking for a fee in the regio𝓰n of £50 million.

It definitely won’t be easy for Tottenham to sign Torres, but if Conte can convince him to make the move, he could turn out to be an absolutely inc🃏redible player for them.
