‘Absolutely amazing’… ESPN pundit so impressed by one Tottenham player despite Everton draw
Frank Leboeuf has issued his verdict on the performance of Richarlison after Tottenham Hotspur drew with Everton on Saturday.
Richarlison is scoring that often at the moment that he is not even feeling the need to celebrate anymore.
Of course, it was actually because the Brazilian was facing his former club that he looked so conflicted when he found the back of the net twice at Goodison Park.
Richarlison shines as Tottenham slip up
Unfortunately, it was not enough for Ange Postecoglou’s side to get the win as they were undone by two set-pieces on Merseyside.
But Richarlison can be proud of his display, producing two stunning goals. The first came when he guided a volley into the roof of the net following a Destiny Udogie cross.
And the second was from outside the penalty area. On both occasions, Jordan Pickford appeared to have no chance of denying his former teammate.
And speaking on , Frank Leboeuf suggested that he was really impressed by the 26-year-old in the 2-2 draw.
“It’s always concerning when you have the possibility of getting the three points and just get one and a draw. But I would say that I was pretty amazed by Everton and the way they were playing, especially the first-half. I think Spurs were more reactive than they acted, and the Toffees did the job. And I think Richarlison was on fire today. The goals that he scored were absolutely amazing. But otherwise, I was more concerned by the way that Spurs defended,” he said.
Brazilian now proving himself with Spurs
Richarlison’s form has been a huge plus for Spurs over the last few months. He has now scored nine goals in his last 10 games in all competitions.
There were serious doubts over whether Richarlison would ever prove himself at Tottenham. But he has stepped up in a big way since Heung-min Son went away on international duty.
It was obviously a big blow for Spurs to miss out on the victory on Saturday. But with Richarlison in such fine form at the moment, there are definitely big positives for Postecoglou to take right now.
