Aberdeen star Lewis Ferguson will be hoping to dent former club Rangers’ title hopes

Rangers face a tricky trip to Pittodrie to take on Aberdeen in the midweek Scottish Premiership match.

And this clash will really test Steven Gerrard’s side’s title credentials as they hope to beat in-form Aberdeen.

But one Aberdeen player will be particularly eager to impress, given his previous links with Rangers.

Lewis Ferguson is the son of ex-Gers ace Derek Ferguson and the nephew of former Rangers legend Barry Ferguson.

And the youngster spent five years on Rangers’ books as a schoolboy, between the age of nine and 14.

As a 14-year-old, Ferguson was released and he was forced to forge a career elsewhere, coming up through Hamilton Academical’s ranks before his pre-contract move to Aberdeen last summer.

Since moving to Aberdeen, Ferguson has gone from strength to strength, playing 27 games this season.

The 19-year-old is defying his age with an impressive tally of six goals and four assists from midfield.

And Ferguson has already had joy against his former club this season, picking up an assist in the Dons’ 1-0 win at Ibrox in the league and a late winner in the Scottish League Cup semi-final.

After ending Gerrard’s hopes of picking up silverware in the League Cup, Ferguson can now dent his former club’s title hopes on Wednesday.
