Aberdeen fans react on Twitter to Leeds loanee Ryan Edmondson’s cameo

A number of Aberdeen fans took to Twitter following their opening day defeat to comment on Ryan Edmondson’s performance as the Leeds United loanee made his debut for the Scottish Premiership side.

Edmondson was named on the bench against Rangers after completing his loan move to Pittodrie on Friday.

But with the Dons struggling to create much against Steven Gerrard’s side, Derek McInnes turned to Edmondson to replace Bruce Anderson up front shortly after the hour mark.

In truth, Edmondson was not presented with a chance in front of goal as Rangers proved to be reasonably comfortable on their way to a 1-0 win.

But plenty of Aberdeen fans were left impressed by the youngster’s cameo.

‘Could be our best striker’

Several took to social media to suggest that he showed enough to push ahead of Anderson in the pecking order for Saturday’s trip to St Johnstone.

He produced some nice touches when dropping deeper to get involved in the play. And he certainly held his own when holding the ball while being challenged by Connor Goldson.

Edmondson struggled for game-time under Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road. He had been lethal for the under-23s last season. But his campaign was brought to an early end due to an injury sustained in January.

However, there are clearly some Aberdeen supporters who are optimistic about the impact that he could make while in Scotland.

Here is how some of the supporters reacted to the Leeds man’s cameo…
