Aaronson and Rodrigo included: Three things learned from Leeds win

Brenden Aaronson could be a real special talent

Leeds celebrated staying up by quickly striking a deal to sign Brenden Aaronson. The Whites paid for the USMNT international. So it is no surprise that he has played a key part in pre-season.

But his best performance yet came against the Serie B opposition. Aaronson was absolutely sensational behind Patrick Bamford and produced a couple of stunning assists.

Leeds’ defensive concerns remain

Rasmus Kristensen has everything needed to become a cult-hero at Leeds. Meanwhile, Pascal Struijk looked very comfortable at left-back. However, not everything was perfect for the Whites at the back.

Cagliari very nearly came from 3-0 down to equalise during the second-half. And both Robin Koch and Diego Llorente looked flustered at times. There must still be some scars from last season. And Wolves would have been encouraged by those moments in the second-half.

Whites may finally get the Rodrigo they always hoped for

Rodrigo has not had the easiest first two years at Leeds. However, there have been moments of real quality along the way. And there has always been a sense that, at some stage, there would be a turning point for the Spaniard.

A hat-trick on Sunday hints that this may finally be his season. His partnership with Patrick Bamford was hugely impressive at times. And watching him also link up with Aaronson and Jack Harrison could be something for Leeds fans to be really excited about this year.

Maybe, just maybe, Rodrigo is about to prove all of his doubters wrong this coming season.
