Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s England withdrawal is worrying news for Crystal Palace
On Monday night, Crystal Palace announced that defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka had withdrawn from the England U-21 squad.
According to the club’s official , Wan-Bissaka injured his shoulder in Saturday’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur, spelling worrying news for Palace’s defensive hopes.
The 20-year-old has been one of the brightest talents in the Premier League all season, taking the division by storm with excellent defensive performances that would be expected of a seasoned professional.
Wan-Bissaka prides himself on winning individual battles, and has done superbly when defending some of the league’s most dangerous attackers in one-on-one situations.
The right back has been vital to Palace’s back four this season, standing out in a side that has unexpectedly been relatively porous for a Roy Hodgson-managed team.
The Eagles currently sit 16th in the table, outside the relegation zone only by virtue of goal difference, and have conceded a worrying amount of goals from set piece situations this campaign.
The last thing the struggling south London outfit need is for one of their best defenders to miss time through injury, and Hodgson must be hoping Wan-Bissaka’s England withdrawal is simply a precaution.
