‘A revelation’: Manager makes comparison between 19-year-old Arsenal loanee and Harry Kane
Arsenal loanee Harry Clarke has been described as a “revelation” by Harry Kewell, who made a comparison between the 19-year-old and Harry Kane in terms of potential career development.
In October, the Gunners academy defender linked up with Oldham, who were at the foot of League Two when he arrived with 13 goals conceded in their opening five league games.
Clarke has made for Oldham to date, with five in the league and one in the cup, also registering one goal, a late winner against Cheltenham.

In terms of how he has done performance-wise, lists five his league appearances, and he’s scored above a 7 twice – one of those was above an 8, in fact.
The latter rating was against Cheltenham, and in that game, Clarke not only scored an 85th-minute winner, but also made a crucial goalline clearance minutes earlier.
In conversation with , Kewell believes that Clarke getting plenty of competitive senior games under his belt, like Tottenham’s Kane has, can only be a good thing.
“Harrison Clarke, a young player from Arsenal came here, age 19 and playing every game,” said the Australian.
“He’s been a revelation and he’s loving it. I spoke to him, and said as much as you can be the next big thing, if you got 100 games behind you, that will only help.
“Harry Kane is a great example – he’s incredible, recently scored his 200th Tottenham goal. He went out on loan (Leyton Orient, Norwich City, Milwall in the Football League).
“It wasn’t until 22 or 23 he exploded at Spurs. He got men’s football (under his belt) and it gave him an opportunity to go back and be ready for his chance.
“It’s not always about going to, or staying at big clubs. To break through sometimes you need to go to smaller clubs.”
TBR View:
Clarke has been with Arsenal since 2015, when he joined the Gunners academy from hometown club Ipswich.
He signed his first professional contract with Arsenal in August 2018, and following an impressive season with the Under-23s, penned a new deal in December 2019.
More recently, the 6ft 2in gem captained the Gunners U21s against Crawley in their EFL Trophy win, and is also an England youth international.
Clarke is definitely one to watch and, with the progress he’s making this season, should hopefully provide food for thought for Mikel Arteta when his loan stint ends.
