‘A lot more’… Ben White shares who is the more demanding manager – Marcelo Bielsa or Mikel Arteta

Leeds United played a massive part in Ben White’s development.

The Whites helped White reach his potential during a loan spell during the 2019/20 season, and from there, he’s gone from strength to strength.

Elland Road was really where White cut his teeth in the game, and, of course, his development was aided by being able to work with such a fantastic manager in the shape of Marcelo Bielsa.

Speaking to , Ben White has been discussing his former Leeds manager and the current Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta.

White says that both men are very different managers, but, interestingly, a lot more gets asked of him by Arteta than it ever was by Bielsa.

Mikel Arteta more demanding than Marcelo Bielsa

White spoke about the two managers.

“It is very different, two different managers,” White said.

“There is a lot more that gets asked of you for Mikel. I am comfortable playing there, but there are completely different things to look at. Like for me, playing centre-back and right-back, I only have to look forward – I never worry about what is behind me. This is a completely different part of the game.”

Higher level

With all due respect to Leeds and Bielsa’s promotion team, this isn’t surprising to hear.

A Premier League title race and a Champions League run are completely incomparable to a Championship promotion run.

Yes, Bielsa was demanding in terms of physicality and effort, but when it comes to tactical demands and the standard of football that is being played, Arteta and this Arsenal team are miles clear of anything Leeds United were doing.

Bielsa did a brilliant job at Leeds, don’t get us wrong, but the standards set at a club like Arsenal are entirely different.
