‘A big blow’: Sky journalist provides injury update live from Everton’s training ground today
The Everton forward was not seen in training today and looks set to miss out on his side’s opening Premier League fixture against Chelsea.
: “No Dominic Calvert-Lewin, we can see Frank Lampard here, a big blow, the centre forward having picked up that injury in training yesterday.
“We’re still trying to ascertain the full extent of the injury. Everton are not exactly overloaded with options for a replacement for Calvert-Lewin.”
Calvert-Lewin has had his fair share of injury issues in the past 12 months, missing out on more than half of Everton’s games last season.

The England international missed much of the first half of last season with a fractured toe, and then complained of a thigh issue as the campaign was ending.
The full extent of Calvert-Lewin’s latest injury is not known, but Everton fans will be hoping it’s nothing serious, as the Toffees have yet to replace last season’s top scorer Richarlison .
Calvert-Lewin injury update is bad news for Everton
Frank Lampard couldn’t have imagined a worse position to pick up an injury to a key player.
With Calvert-Lewin expected to be unavailable for the weekend, and Salomon Rondon suspended after being sent off against Brentford at the end of last season, Lampard will have to get creative.
Lampard could look to youngster Lewis Dobbin, but reports suggest Dobbin is very close to leaving the club on loan, although that may be delayed to allow the 19-year-old to deputise for Calvert-Lewin.

Dele Alli has played as a , and Anthony Gordon and Alex Iwobi are both versatile enough to play in multiple attacking roles.
Lampard will be hoping that Everton can get a deal over the line quickly for one of the forwards they’ve been linked with.
Armando Broja has been linked with a move to Goodison Park, while Lampard is also interested in being reunited with Michy Batshuayi.
The problem will be convincing their next opponent’s Chelsea to strengthen their opening day opponents by giving a deal for either player the green light.
