‘A beast’, ‘Brilliant today’ – These West Ham fans discuss Sebastien Haller after his debut
West Ham United were heavily beaten 5-0 by Manchester City in their first game of the Premier League season. It was an inauspicious start to the campaign for the Irons, but Manuel Pellegrini will be glad that he doesn’t have to face his former side again for a while.
In the first half at least, there were some positives for the Hammers too. The London Stadium faithful got their first look at Sebastien Haller. The 25-year-old striker showed flashes of quality.
However, as the game went on, and City grew ever more dominant, the French attacker became less involved. As the home side lost the midfield battle, they also lost the ability to transition the ball up into Haller’s territory. As a result, despite having made his Premier League debut, the former Eintracht Frankfurt man remains something of an unknown quantity.

Against less brilliant opposition, Haller will get more chances to shine. He certainly has plenty of positive attributes, and an impressive previous record. Pellegrini will be hoping that he can start to have a real impact for his side soon.
Despite his limited involvement, plenty of West Ham fans were excited by what they saw from their new hitman. After the game, lots of Irons supporters took to Twitter to discuss Haller.
Okay, we had the best team in the league, the ref and VAR against us. Saying that, thought we seemed to give up at 2-0. Haller a real plus point on a bad day. Onwards and upwards. ⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒

5.0 doesnt sound good in anyway. But what a side city are. We had our moments. They havent made many changes and it showed. Glad it’s out the way. But first half was very good. Haller looks really good too

In other words how about Sebastian Haller? Proper baller and the goals will come to him no problem. Genuinely didn’t have a bad pass or touch today. Gonna be a big player for us.

Thought Haller was quality today. He’s hold up play is fantastic and what I really liked is when he wasn’t getting much of the ball he ain’t afraid to chase down and work hard to win it back. Keep playing like that and the goals will come ??
