Don Hutchison urges Everton to sign midfielder, says he can like Olivier Dacourt
– as per Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport – that Everton remain in hot pursuit of Napoli midfielder Allan, and Don Hutchison has urged the Toffees to sign the Brazilian star.
Allan, 29, has clocked up a whopping 212 appearances in all competitions for Napoli since joining Gennaro Gattuso’s side in the summer of 2015. He worked under Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli.
The report states that Everton remain in hot pursuit of the eight-time Brazil international, and that a deal could be engineered for a bargain figure of just £22.5million. He has a contract at Napoli until the summer of 2023.
Ex-Everton midfielder Hutchison, who is renowned for his knowledge of European football, has urged Everton to complete the signing of Allan – and claims he could have the same impact at Everton as Olivier Dacourt.
TBR’s view – Allan excellent signing, but room needs to be made
Jean-Philippe Gbamin is once again injured, while Morgan Schneiderlin has been sold. There is room for another central midfielder but Fabian Delph’s future is likely to be plunged into doubt if Allan is signed.
With Leeds gaining promotion back to the Premier League, could Delph be tempted with a return to his boyhood club? The Whites have been linked, and the signing of Allan could push the former Manchester City man out.
