West Ham United enjoyed a wonderful European night on Thursday as they sealed top spot in Group H of the Europa League.
David Moyes steered the Hammers to a 2-0 win away at Rapid Vienna, which put them into the next round of the competition.
Andriy Yarmolenko opened the scoring in the 39th minute before Mark Noble netted a penalty on the stroke of half time.
Numerous West Ham players emerged from the game with plenty of credit, and Arthur Masuaku will no doubt be especially happy with his display.
The 28-year-old has endured his fair share of criticism and has struggled for minutes this season, but his performance is a timely reminder for Moyes.
Masuaku covered plenty of ground on the left flank, snuffing out attacks and winning the ball back often.
His deliveries were also impressive and he could’ve had an assist when Jarrod Bowen turned his shot wide.
Masuaku’s stats from the game made for good reading.
The DR Congo international took 93 touches of the ball, and made 53 passes with an accuracy of 86.8 percent.
Masuaku also weighed in with five crosses and three long balls, and made two tackles, three interceptions and two clearances.
Aaron Cresswell may be West Ham’s first-choice left-back, but Masuaku should have given Moyes some food for thought in Austria.
