86 touches, five clearances… 22-year-old Spurs player has a bright future at N17
Tottenham Hotspur had a tricky day at the office on Saturday, but ultimately they got the job done in their Premier League fixture.
Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs hosted Luton Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, running out 2-1 winners over the battling Hatters.
However, Tottenham had to come from behind, and it wasn’t until the latter stages of the match that Spurs actually led.
Tottenham fell behind after just three minutes as Ross Barkley squared the ball for Tahith Chong to fired into the corner of Guglielmo Vicario’s net.
A stunned Spurs set about trying to get back into the game and had multiple opportunities to get on the scoresheet in the first half, though they couldn’t take them.

However, Tottenham didn’t have to wait long before restoring parity. On 51 minutes, Brennan Johnson flashed a ball across the face of goal that Issa Kabore turned into his own net.
And in the 86th minute, the impressive Johnson laid the ball off for Son Heung-min to run onto and apply the finish with the help of a deflection off Daiki Hashioka.
Radu Dragusin impresses on second Spurs start
While the spotlight is mostly shining on Tottenham’s attacking players, the Spurs defence deserves credit for holding firm for the most part.
Radu Dragusin in particular deserves a shout-out for how well he did on just his second Tottenham start.
Postecoglou opted not to risk Micky van de Ven, who has only just come back from a hamstring issue.
The Spurs boss instead started Dragusin, who played the full 90 minutes and gave a great account of himself.
‘s Alasdair Gold gave him a 7 out of 10 rating and wrote: ‘A solid display from the young Romanian and he always looked in control, including some driving runs up the pitch and deep into the Luton half with the ball at his feet.’
The ‘s Dan Kilpatrick also went with 7 out of 10, writing: ‘Grew into the game and played out from the back well, despite being on his less favoured left side.’
As per , Dragusin took 86 touches of the ball, completed 66 passes, won four duels (two on the ground and two in the air), completed one dribble and made five clearances and one tackle.
All in all, the Romania international looks like he has a very bright future at Tottenham. He’s finding his feet at N17 and it’ll be exciting to see how he continues to develop.
