Aston Villa secured a stunning win over Tottenham last night as they ended their campaign on the road with a 2-1 win. Goals from Ollie Watkins and an own goal by Sergio Reguilon ensure all three points for Dean Smith’s men.

It was the performance of another man that caught the eye though. Bertrand Traore has been in fine form since a summer move from Lyon and he was at his best once more against Spurs.

Some statistics from have highlighted just how well Traore played against Ryan Mason’s team yesterday evening.

He claimed an assist during the contest and also completed seven dribbles and four key passes. He also had five shots, although none of them managed to find the target.

Traore also claimed two interceptions, highlighting that he’s not afraid to get stuck in when it comes to the defensive side of the game.

Villa’s recruitment in the summer was a million miles better than it was the season previous. Smith prioritised quality over quantity and it’s paid dividends during 2020/21.

The likes of Watkins, Matty Cash and Emiliano Martinez have all helped but Traore’s impact shouldn’t go unnoticed either.

He has showcased his talents during the current season and should improve even further during 2021/22.

The former Lyon star has surprised plenty of people during this season and last night he put Tottenham to the sword with his brilliance.

If he can continue developing and kick on even further next season, Villa could have a real player on their hands.
