7 clearances, 5 aerial duels won: Tottenham star had excellent international stats
Despite the fact he’s yet to cement his spot in the Tottenham XI, Joe Rodon is a key figure on the international stage for his country.
The Spurs defender starred on Tuesday night during Wales’ 1-0 victory over Czech Republic in a World Cup qualifier.
It was a fairly even contest where both teams attacked freely, and Manchester United’s Daniel James eventually scored a late winner with a header.
But it required a last-ditch tackle from Rodon to keep three points.
The centre-back threw himself in the way of a shot from inside the penalty area that was goal-bound, and it epitomised the kind of player he is in the way he wears his heart on his sleeve.
As well as appearing to be dominant in the game, he also had the statistics to back up his contribution.

gave Rodon a 7.26 rating for his latest Wales display, which included seven clearances, and also five aerial duels won.
Additionally, he made 36 passes against Czech Republic.
If Spurs boss Jose Mourinho was watching on yesterday, surely he’s got to be thinking now that the young talent deserves a regular run in the XI.
He’s played jut 15 games across all competitions, but is putting a real case together to earn more opportunities when some of his centre-back teammates are out of form.
It looks like everything is falling together for him right now, and he’s definitely got the talent.
His leadership qualities are to be admired at such a young age, as he was a natural fit in a back three for the Welsh team, and he’s a player that should only get better with more exposure at the top level.
