Spurs reportedly want Lewis Dunk this summer and the Brighton man put in a fine performance at Chelsea last night to demonstrate his quality.

The big Seagulls star has been a mainstay of the Brighton team in the Premier League. Playing at the heart of the defence with the likes of Adam Webster and Ben White, Dunk has stood out on more than one occasion.
And in Brighton’s draw with Chelsea last night – a game they could and maybe should have won – Dunk put in a masterclass performance and showed Spurs exactly what they could be getting if they did make a move.

Remarkably, per stats from , Dunk helped Brighton to a clean-sheet last night without making a single tackle. Of course, you could look at it the other way and say Chelsea offered little attacking threat.
But this is about looking at Lewis Dunk and how impressive he was. He kept Kai Havertz quiet throughout, was untroubled by Olivier Giroud’s introduction, and built attacks for Brighton from the back.
Per , Dunk completed seven from eleven of his attempted long-balls. Further, he also completed just shy of 90% of all his attempted passes, with two crucial interceptions also thrown in.
Away from the stats, Dunk was a towering presence. But also a calm and assured one, with a swagger about him as he brought the ball out from the defence to help Graham Potter’s tactical plan get going.
If Spurs were looking on, then they’ll have been hugely impressed with what they’ve seen. Dunk won’t come cheap. But then the very best don’t come for pennies in modern football.
