£6m Arsenal player says Jorginho has been telling him to be more nasty

Gabriel Martinelli has now shared what Arsenal teammates Aaron Ramsdale and Jorginho said he can improve on.

The 22-year-old made the comments when speaking to TNT Sports.

So, what did Arsenal No.11 Gabriel Martinelli say? Let’s take a look…

Gabriel Martinelli shares advice from Aaron Ramsdale and Jorginho at Arsenal

Well, the man has been told he needs to be a little nastier at Arsenal – and also more greedy with the ball.

Martinelli : “Well, Aaron and Jorginho said that to me in the Burnley game, even against Porto, hey, sometimes you’re too nice to the team, you want to pass. I say if I see a player in a better position, I try to pass, because if I was in that position, I’d want the ball.

“So I think that sometimes I can be a bit more greedy, but that’s up to each individual. Sometimes on the pitch it’s very fast, if you think about two things, you get confused and end up doing neither. So I think that maybe I can be a bit more greedy for myself, sometimes scoring more goals, but I think for now I’m doing what I think is right on the pitch and it’s working.”

Martinelli certainly seems to have lost a bit of selfishness in front of goal this season.

The Brazil international already has assists to his name in all competitions – which is just one fewer than his total of from last season.

However, Martinelli only has eight goals in 32 appearances, so the South American may well need to become more selfish if he is to match last term’s tally of 15 goals.

Mikel Arteta won’t mind

As long as Martinelli is delivering for the team and Arsenal continue to score goals at will, Mikel Arteta surely won’t mind seeing the Brazilian be too “nice” towards his teammates.

The Guarulhos-born forward could certainly be more selfish, but with Arsenal on a remarkable run of seven straight Premier League wins, not a lot needs to be changed right now, in our view at least.
