£67m striker who Arsenal have been watching closely is keen on England return
- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
After sealing a deal for Riccardo Calafiori, Arsenal will still likely try and add three more players to Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer.
Arsenal will need a replacement for Aaron Ramsdale should he leave, albeit not the most exciting signing for the club’s supporters.
But there’s definitely reason to be optimistic in terms of who Edu and his team may identify to improve Arsenal’s midfield and forward line – the two other targets on the shortlist.
Nico Williams was said to be Arteta’s number one target this summer, a player who shone for all the world to see at the Euros.
However, Williams has ordered his agent to end negotiations with Premier League clubs, looking set to join Barcelona.
Therefore, it seems likely that Arsenal will turn to some of their other targets, perhaps a more orthodox centre-forward.
And with that in mind, TBR Football understands that Arsenal linked striker Viktor Gyokeres is keen on a return to England.

Alongside the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, Arsenal have been tracking Gyokeres progress for some time now.
Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres would welcome Premier League chance
TBR understands that Manchester United were interested too, but with the arrival of Joshua Zirkzee a move now seems very unlikely.
Newcastle United also looked at the former Coventry City striker as an option if Arsenal linked Alexander Isak left, although he will now be staying.
And the interest doesn’t end in England, both AC Milan and Atletico Madrid also considered moves this summer, only to eventually go in a different direction.
That being said, although Sporting CP officially want Gyokeres’ release clause to be paid in full, intermediaries claim that he could be allowed to leave for less than €80m (£67m).

It remains to be seen if that is the case, but TBR understands that Gyokeres would welcome the chance to return to England amid all of this interest.
However, the Swedish striker isn’t agitating for a move at this point, given he’s only been playing in Portugal for one season.
Of course, in a summer in which Gabriel Jesus has returned in brilliant shape for Arsenal in pre-season, some of the club’s supporters may feel that it’s not the right time to launch a bid for Gyokeres.
But it’s clear that Arsenal are very interested, but will perhaps bide their time – aware of their need to strengthen their squad elsewhere.
