63-year-old rejected by Manchester United could soon replace Xavi at Barcelona

Ralf Rangnick could soon replace Xavi at Barcelona – after Manchester United rejected the chance to keep the German at Old Trafford.

That is according to SPORT in Spain.

So, what is the latest on Ralf Rangnick after Manchester United rejected his services? Let’s take a look…

Barcelona want Rangnick

Well, the 63-year-old was set to begin a consultancy role at Old Trafford back in 2022 after Erik ten Hag arrived in Manchester.

However, the Red Devils ultimately decided not to work with Rangnick – the state that it was a club decision.

Now, however – according to – the man from Backnang could land the Barcelona job.

Like Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool, it has already been announced that Xavi will be leaving the Camp Nou at the end of the season, so the Spanish giants are on the lookout for replacements.

One option is Rangnick – who is currently in charge of Austria.

The Spanish news outlet believe Joan Laporta – President of Barcelona – personally admires the German.

Laporta is also said to view Klopp as the dream appointment, although that move seems almost impossible after the 56-year-old admitted he is running out of energy in football management.

Manchester United at risk of embarrassment

In our view, it could be quite humiliating for Manchester United if Rangnick joins Barcelona and turns the Spanish giants around on his own.

Barcelona – like Manchester United – are nowhere near the level of years gone by, and find themselves in a similar mess to the Red Devils.

The situation has seen positive developments in recent weeks following the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the appointment of Omar Berrada as CEO – although there is still plenty of work to do.

Therefore, if Rangnick goes to Barcelona and immediately gets the Catalans back on track almost singlehandedly, it would suggest Manchester United made a mistake in choosing not to work with him.
