£62,000-a-week Eddie Howe target has no desire whatsoever to join Newcastle even if asking price is met

Newcastle could make a number of signings before the transfer window shuts on Friday 30th August.

As things stand, the Magpies are currently deciding what to do next after seeing four bids rejected for Marc Guehi by Crystal Palace – the latest of which was worth a guaranteed £60m to the south Londoners.

There could also be an outgoing, as Newcastle are trying to sell Miguel Almiron before they run out of time.

Now – however – there has been a setback as one of Eddie Howe‘s targets has no desire whatsoever to join Newcastle this summer…

Ferran Torres will ignore Newcastle – whatever happens

A story from now states that Ferran Torres has no interest in leaving Barcelona for Newcastle.

The Spanish news outlet believe the Barcelona No.7 will reject the Magpies if a bid arrives from Tyneside, and the man is only focused on shining under Hansi Flick.

It comes after another Spanish news outlet in claimed that Newcastle could make a bid for Torres in the next few days, as Howe looks to add another wide forward to his attack.

SPORT claimed that Barcelona would accept a sum of €30m (£26m) for the Spain international, but after Marca reported on the matter, even a bid of that amount is unlikely to secure the 24-year-old’s signature.

The Magpies already have two standout options on the left in Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes, although there is a distinct lack of balance to the frontline, with a dangerous left footer to roam on the right flank lacking at St James’ Park.

In fairness, Newcastle did look to amend this situation quickly by attempting to sign Michael Olise before his move to Bayern Munich.

Furthermore, Newcastle also showed interest in Jarrod Bowen – before West Ham made the England international captain and speculation about his future fizzled out.

Frustrating for Eddie Howe

It has been a frustrating summer for Howe, who – in addition to missing out on targets – was forced to sell Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to Nottingham Forest and Brighton respectively for financial reasons.

It seems like Guehi could be the only arrival at the time of writing, but in the event that Crystal Palace refuse to budge, Newcastle have an alternative.

A story from Turkish news outlet claims that Newcastle have just made an approach to sign Jayden Oosterwolde from Fenerbahce – so Howe could be moving on from Guehi.

Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Newcastle, as Paul Mitchell is still trying to complete some more signings.
