6 tackles, 2 key passes: Coufal shines in West Ham loss
In many ways, West Ham United’s spirited performance in defeat against Manchester City did a better job of showcasing their progress than a number of their victories this season.
The Hammers came incredibly close to ending City’s remarkable winning run. They equalised after going 1-0 down, and were fractions away from taking a point away with them from the Etihad.

A number of players were superb for David Moyes’s side. And Vladimir Coufal was one of those to produce a masterful display against the runaway Premier League leaders.
, he won six tackles. That tally meant that he managed twice as many successful challenges as the next best players on the pitch.

Meanwhile, no player could better his tally of two key passes. It was perhaps not his best display going forward, but he still managed to make an impact.
He also made one clearance and two interceptions.
Plenty of West Ham stars proved that they deserve to be fighting towards the top end of the table. And the 28-year-old was definitely one who did not look out of place coming up against the best team in the country.
It is hardly a hot take any longer to suggest that Coufal – who earns around £31,000-a-week, – was an inspired signing for West Ham. But it is still proving difficult to not praise the decision to bring him to the London Stadium on almost every occasion he takes to the field.
