£59m Liverpool target says he rejected several offers to leave this summer
With just over three weeks remaining of the August transfer window, it seems as if Arne Slot has finally settled on two key targets at Liverpool.
It’s been clear all summer that Liverpool would need a new centre-back, a signing that would likely even have been made under Jurgen Klopp.
Sepp van den Berg has impressed Slot in Liverpool pre-season, but Joel Matip will ultimately require a replacement.
Although it now seems as if Virgil van Dijk is willing to sign a new contract with Liverpool, the club still need to plan for the future, and now seems like the opportune time to add.
And in addition to a centre-back, Liverpool reportedly also want to sign a new number six this month – it seems unlikely that Slot will start the new season without an addition.
Wataru Endo hasn’t always impressed in pre-season thus far and Liverpool have reportedly identified their ideal target.
Perhaps Liverpool could steal Manuel Ugarte from Manchester United’s clutches after they have stepped away from a deal, it remains to be seen.
Juventus defender Gleison Bremer may have rejected an offer from Liverpool
Whilst Liverpool appear to have had some joy in finding a midfielder to target, they have perhaps been more frustrated on the centre-back front.
In recent weeks it’s become apparent that Liverpool were interested in signing Gleison Bremer.

The Brazilian left-footer, who has impressed for Juventus in recent years, looked well suited to either replacing or playing understudy to Van Dijk.
However, Bremer has just signed a new contract with Juventus ending any chance of a summer move, and made some interesting comments in the process.
Liverpool were said to be ‘pushing hard’ to sign Bremer, perhaps insisting that there had been some contact between the two parties.
And when signing his new contract, Bremer shared that he had ‘rejected other clubs’ in order to stay at Juventus under Thiago Motta’s new leadership.
Journalist shared the comments on X, with Bremer stating that he will stay at Juventus for a long-time.
He said: “I have rejected other clubs because I’m already at a big club like Juventus and decided to stay here for a long time”.
“Thiago Motta convinced me. He is ambitious, together we will do great things. I really believe in the new Juventus project.”
Therefore, it is interesting to consider whether Liverpool may have been one of those rejected clubs.
That being said, TBR Football have just shared an update on Liverpool’s interest in Marc Guehi.
