£55m Man City attacker compared to Eden Hazard by the media after his latest international display

A handful of Manchester City attackers are representing their countries as the second international break of the 2024-25 campaign prepares to draw to a close.

Rico Lewis, Jack Grealish, John Stones, Phil Foden and Kyle Walker are part of Lee Carsley’s England squad, while Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias featured for Portugal in their 3-1 win against Poland.

The likes of Manuel Akanji, Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland also featured for their respective countries, with the latter finding himself on the wrong end of a battering as Norway lost 5-1 to Austria.

However, it is another Manchester City man who has made a massive impression, with Jeremy Doku earning rave reviews for his performance for Belgium against France.

Belgium lost 2-1 at home as Randal Kolo Muani’s brace spearheaded France to a 2-1 win, but Doku did his reputation no harm with an electric display on the wings.

Starting alongside Leandro Trossard and Lois Openda in attack, the explosive winger was a constant threat as he gave France full-back Lucas Digne a run for his money.

rated his performance 8/10 and opined that he showed flashes of Eden Hazard, who is widely regarded as the greatest Belgian footballer in history.

“Made the Heysel look like his playground like Eden Hazard used to do. Simply impressive how he gave Digne a horror night, especially before the break.

“The only downside: that he let Digne run too often – as with the disallowed 1-2 and the real 1-2.”

Doku’s stats vs France

Doku made three key passes and completed a staggering six dribbles, a stat which shows why he drew comparisons with Hazard as the Chelsea icon was known for running rings around opposition defenders.

He also completed two crosses and one long ball as he finished the game with 62 touches and a pass accuracy of 77% (23/30 passes completed).

Doku earned himself a rating of 7 – which doesn’t really set the world alight – but he is one of few Belgium players who impressed in what turned out to be a disappointing home defeat for them.

Signed for from Rennes last summer, the Belgian attacker is slowly starting to find more consistency and will look to carry on his rich vein of form this season.
