£50m Tottenham player looked absolutely fuming despite 4-0 win against Everton

There’s no doubt that it was an excellent afternoon for Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham team against Everton in north London.

Tottenham won 4-0 and Postecoglou’s bold team selection was well justified.

The Spurs boss decided to welcome Yves Bissouma back to the team in a single pivot, playing behind four attackers.

Wilson Odobert was brilliant on debut, justifying Tottenham’s decision to take a risk on him this summer.

When they signed Dominic Solanke, it was reported that Spurs were excited to return captain Son Heung-min to his favoured position on the left-wing.

But with Solanke missing, Postecoglou decided against any temptation to start Richarlison in his place, a like for like number nine so to speak.

Dejan Kulusevski started on the right, and again justified that call with a delightful piece of close dribbling to set up Bissouma when scoring the opener.

Of course, it won’t have been easy for Richarlison to watch five Tottenham attackers start ahead of him, especially when Solanke was missing.

Richarlison looked incredibly frustrated on Tottenham’s bench during Everton win

Richarlison was subbed on by Postecoglou just after the 60 minute mark, but he failed to get too involved in Spurs’ excellent work.

Pundit Pat Nevin was watching the game for the and noticed that the wasn’t happy at all on the bench, even if Postecoglou’s decision looked well justified.

Nevin said: “It’ll be interesting how Richarlison reacts when he comes on. He had a face like thunder on the bench, he obviously wants to play.

“But, he also needs to look at the players who are in front of him who are all playing well.”

Of course, it has been widely reported that Tottenham wanted to sell Richarlison this summer, he was available at the right price.

However the former Everton player made it clear that he wanted to remain in north London, determined to become a crucial player for Postecoglou.

It would seem very unlikely that Richarlison would leave Spurs before next week’s deadline given the reasons explained.

However, it doesn’t currently feel as if he’ll be a long-term fixture under Postecoglou at Tottenham, a player who is good at several things but doesn’t excel in any particular area.
