£50m Arsenal star being assessed ahead of Brentford clash due to muscle problem

Arsenal defender Ben White is reportedly set to undergo a late fitness test ahead of the Gunners returning to Premier League action this weekend.

Mikel Arteta’s charges head to Brentford in a 5:30pm GMT kickoff this Saturday, and has published a piece looking at the squad’s fitness and injury situation.

The report claims that White has been ‘struggling with a muscle injury’ and is now being assessed ahead of Arsenal’s trip to West London.

White has been an ever-present in the Gunners backline since joining the club for a reported fee back in 2021.

The 26-year-old has already gone past a century of competitive appearances for Arsenal, and has played in all but one of the Gunners’ games this season.

White’s sole absence this term came in Arsenal’s last game before the November international break, the 3-1 win over Burnley.

Arsenal star Ben White ‘always wants to be on the pitch’

Arteta told football.london following the victory over the Clarets: “Yesterday in training he wasn’t comfortable. He didn’t look right.

“But Ben won’t give you much. He always wants to be on the pitch and he wants to hide anything that is in there.

“But we highlighted something happening there that we noticed in the last two weeks as well. We wanted to protect him today.

“It was the right call from the physios and the medical department and tomorrow we will assess him and understand what’s happening.”

White struggled on his debut in a 2-0 loss to Brentford and received criticism, but he has kicked on since then and hasn’t looked back.

The £93,000-a-week ace () has become a key player for Arsenal at both centre-back and right-back.

White will have had a chance to recover during the international break, so let’s hope that he passes this late fitness test and gets back into the starting XI this weekend.
