50-year-old more likely to replace Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea than join West Ham
Chelsea might be playing Liverpool in the League Cup final this weekend but that doesn’t mean speculation around their manager stops.
Mauricio Pochettino has had an up and down start to his life as Chelsea boss. Despite getting to the cup final, league form has been patchy to say the least.
There is, of course, an understanding that Pochettino is working with a young squad that has been assembled, in the main, outside of his say-so. On the flipside, though, this is also a team with nearly £1bn of talent involved, including a midfield duo of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez that cost north of £200m.
And according to a report from German outlet , Pochettino’s job could be under threat from old Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel.

According to the report, Tuchel is more likely to replace Pochettino at Chelsea than move to West Ham, who have also been linked with the German.
It’s claimed that Tuchel’s love for Chelsea is likely to prevent him being the Hammers boss and that should Pochettino finish the season poorly, then Todd Boehly might even consider a return for Tuchel.
The most Chelsea thing ever
This really would sum up the crazy times of supporting Chelsea in the current era. If Todd Boehly goes and moves Pochettino on and then replaces him with a man he got rid of in the first place, it would be truly mind-blowing.
Of course, speculation is rife around Tuchel at the moment as he’s about to leave Bayern this summer. A lot of this could simply be his agents drumming up interest and rumour.
However, given it’s Chelsea, you just cannot rule it out.
Chelsea have done some odd things over the years but this would rank right up there. Not that Tuchel isn’t a good manager, obviously.
But given the investment and apparent belief in Poch, this would be a head scratcher.
