6 clearances, 5 blocked shots, 9/10 rating – Leeds ‘difference maker’ was sensational at the Etihad

In Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff, Leeds United picked up the finest win of their already superb season, leaving Manchester City with all three points despite going down to ten men.

As far as Premier League fixtures go, a trip to the Etihad Stadium to face the champions-elect is about as hard as you can get, and even more so when you’re a man down for an entire half.

But Leeds went and did just that, putting in a magnificent effort to leave Pep Guardiola’s side empty-handed.

While Stuart Dallas was the obvious man of the match for his brace, there were numerous Whites players who also shone on the day.

One player who arguably went under the radar but who definitely deserves credit was Diego Llorente, who was absolutely outstanding against City.

“Became the physical presence the team needed in Liam Cooper’s absence,” wrote , who gave him 9 out of 10. “Won headers, made blocks.”

A look at his stats on shows how well he did – one tackle, two interceptions, six clearances and five blocked shots, as well as five long balls, three of those finding their target.

As of Saturday afternoon, had his rating down as 7.10 out of 10, the fourth-highest in the Leeds team behind Ezgjan Alioski, Illan Meslier and Dallas.

Signed last summer for a reported £, Llorente has developed into quite the player, to the point that fee looks like a bargain.
