Manchester City have added Reece James onto their wishlist for this summer’s transfer window, .

James enjoyed a brilliant end to the season, becoming a regular under Thomas Tuchel. However, he was far from a starter at the start of the German’s tenure back in January.

The publication is claiming that Pep Guardiola is a ‘huge admirer’ of the defender. It’s thought the ace’s performance against the Citizens coupled with his versatility has caught the eye of the Spanish boss.

The 21-year-old was a crucial part of the Chelsea team in the Champions League final victory over City. He also starred in the FA Cup semi-final and Premier League victory over the northwest club.

James has four years left on his deal at Chelsea with the club reluctant to sell the player.

TBR View: James Transfer near impossible for Manchester City

There’s optimism and then there’s whatever the Etihad Stadium giants want to label this move. A transfer for James proves nigh on impossible for Manchester City due to a string of reasons.

For starters, the ace has just starred for the Blues in three consecutive victories over Guardiola’s side. Tuchel’s men have shown that they are more than a match for the rivals next season.

The 2021/2022 Premier League title race should be a tight race especially after Tuchel’s victory in the Europe’s premier competition in his debut season.

Then you have the fact James has four years left on his contract. Any move would cost in excess of £70m, which would be too much given the side’s chase of Harry Kane and Jack Grealish.

And finally, and most importantly, why would the fullback want to leave Chelsea? He’s reached three finals in just two seasons, starting week in and week out as well as playing under Tuchel.

There are many reasons why a move for James is impossible in a summer where City have bigger priorities.
