£45m Tottenham player confirms he’s not injured after West Ham game last night

Tottenham Hotspur missed out on the chance to return to the Premier League’s top four after playing out a 1-1 draw at West Ham United on Tuesday night.

Spurs returned to winning ways last weekend with a 2-1 victory against Luton Town in which they showed great resolve to come from behind and triumph.

Tottenham were hoping for more of the same when they faced off against the Hammers at the London Stadium, and things began brightly for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Brennan Johnson, who was rewarded with a place in the Spurs starting XI, repaid his manager’s faith by turning home from a low Timo Werner cross in the third minute.

However, West Ham responded well and were level in the 19th minute, as defender Kurt Zouma headed in unmarked from a corner.

Neither Tottenham nor the Hammers showed much cutting edge thereafter and, as such, they had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Brennan Johnson speaks out on knock he suffered in Spurs draw at West Ham

There was a tense moment in the match as the in-form Johnson suffered a knock and was forced to come off in the latter stages of the game.

In the 90th minute, Giovani Lo Celso replaced the man, who headed straight down the tunnel after coming off.

However, Johnson played down any concerns, telling after the game that the blow he took to the knee wasn’t anything serious.

“It’s all good,” said the Wales international. “It’s just from the corner. I got a kick in my knee, but it’s fine. I’m all good.”

Postecoglou also played down any injury concerns involving Johnson, saying: “I think he’s alright.

“It’s just a knock, I think it was from a set piece. Knock on wood but I think everyone got through it pretty well.”

It’s good to hear that Johnson doesn’t seem to have suffered any serious injury. He’s been in great form lately and will be crucial for the run-in.
