£45m player is more likely to join West Ham than Newcastle
West Ham United have work to do this summer.
The Hammers have a new manager at the helm and they should have plenty of cash to spend in the transfer market.
After a rather disappointing season last time around, this squad needs a bit of a shakeup, particularly in the defence.
West Ham have been linked with a number of defenders as of late, and one player they’re said to be very keen on is Wolves’ Max Kilman.
Speaking on NUFC Matters, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Kilman’s future, and he’s claimed that the £45m defender is much more likely to join West Ham than Newcastle.
Max Kilman more likely to join West Ham than Newcastle
Jacobs shared what he knows about the Wolves star.
“I would keep one eye on West Ham as well, they are bidding for Max Kilman and the expectation is that they will beat Newcastle to his signature if he is to leave Wolves,” Jacobs said.
“It’s not that Kilman isn’t interested in the Newcastle project, but you have Julen Lopetegui who he enjoyed playing under at Wolves at West Ham now, and that gives West Ham an advantage.”
Newcastle a better move
As much as Kilman may be more comfortable playing under Lopetegui, it has to be said that a move to Newcastle would be wiser at this point.
With all due respect to West Ham, Newcastle have much greater ambitions than the east London club at the moment.
There’s a genuine chance that Newcastle will be fighting for a place in the top four this season. Meanwhile, the extent of West Ham’s ambitions may well be to reach the Europa Conference League.
On a personal level, the move to West Ham makes a lot of sense, but if Kilman wants to be ambitious, he should be looking to join Newcastle.
