£45m man hailed as Arsenal’s best player in pre-season training so far
From the outside looking in, Arsenal have had something of a rocky pre-season so far in terms of results in their friendlies.
Arsenal have just lost to Liverpool, and that result comes off the back of a narrow win against Manchester United and a draw with Bournemouth.
Arsenal’s performances in these friendlies hasn’t exactly been stellar, but, in training camp, the Gunners are said to be in full flow.
Indeed, speaking on , Paul Hirst has shared some insight into the Arsenal training camp after spending some time with the Gunners in the USA.
Hirst says that the squad all seem very relaxed but very focused, while he named Jurrien Timber as Arsenal’s top performer in pre-season so far.

Jurrien Timber has been Arsenal’s best player in pre-season
Hirst shared what he’s observed during Arsenal’s pre-season.
“We were talking earlier about the positivity in the Man Utd camp and that’s the same in the Arsenal camp at the moment, they might even be more positive,” Hirst said.
“Mikel Arteta and his players seemed really relaxed and really chilled on this tour. They seemed really focused as well. They trained at the old LA Rams facility. They just looked really confident.
“The most impressive player I’ve seen so far is Jurrien Timber. I remember this time last year I did some of his pre-season games he was fantastic. He’s looked so confident and so authoritative.”
The role Jurrien Timber is expected to play next season
Timber has been impressing in pre-season, and it sounds as though his good form will be rewarded with a starting spot in the team.
Indeed, according to Gunners journalist, Steve Kay, Timber will be Arsenal’s starting left-back going into next season.
“I’m blessed to know people who are very close to Arsenal, and Timber looks like he is going to start at left-back. The word is that Calafiori is being brought in either as competition for Gabriel or as a replacement for him,” Kay said.
Timber has barely played for Arsenal after his injury issues last season, but make no mistake about it, the Dutchman is a very talented player who could be a key member of this Arsenal squad next season.
