Brendan Rodgers confirms Leicester unsure over fitness of Evans ahead of Man United clash
Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Jonny Evans will be assessed ahead of Leicester City’s clash with Manchester United this evening.
Speaking ahead of his press conference before today’s fixture, the Northern Irishman confirmed his fellow countryman will be assessed before the game.
Evans limped out of the warm-up prior to the defeat at the hands of Newcastle United with Rodgers claiming the center-half felt discomfort in his heel.
He proved to be a costly miss for the Foxes, who struggled without their experienced defender as the Geordies struck four past Kaspar Schmeichel.
When talking about Evan’s heel injury, : “He was in a lot of pain [last Thursday] and woke up [on Friday] feeling better. In the warm-up, just as he was coming in before kick-off, he felt discomfort. Jonny’s a real warrior so you know if he’s not able to at least give it a go, then he’s really suffering. We’ll just have to see how he is and what his availability is going forward.”

TBR View: Experience key in huge clash for Foxes
Last season, the Foxes collapsed in pretty sensational circumstances as they missed out on a top-four spot and potential Champions League football.
It seems history could be about to repeat itself with the Midlands outfit sweating on their place in the league table. After their clash with the Red Devils, the side take on Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in what a tougher run of games compared to rivals West Ham United.
Evans’ potential return would be a huge boost for the outfit especially given the fact Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be missing Harry Maguire after the former player’s injury woes.
With over in the English top-flight, the Northern Ireland international has the experience which Caglar Soyouncu and Wesley Fofana showed they were missing in Friday’s horror show.
Whether or not he’s fit, it wouldn’t of the imagination to say the club’s hopes of Champions League football rests on the fitness of their best defender.
