£43m midfielder Tottenham want to sign says he’s actually better than Man City’s Rodri
Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Hakan Calhanoglou has boldly claimed that he’s the best defensive midfielder in the world ahead of Manchester City star Rodri.
The Turk has been linked with a move to the Premier League for years now. A number of teams have been rumoured to be interested in him, including Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham.

Tottenham target Hakan Calhanoglou says he’s better than Rodri
Hakan Calhanoglou is in his third year at Inter Milan, and he has played almost every single game as a defensive midfielder.
The 30-year-old has played in numerous positions across the pitch over the years. He has always been known for his attacking prowess in the past, but he has settled into his deeper role very well.
However, Calhanoglou appears to rate himself very highly – definitely higher than we do. In a video on , the Turk has called himself the best defensive midfielder in world football.
He ranked himself in first place ahead of Manchester City’s Rodri, Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos, Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea.
Explaining his assessment, Calhanoglou added, as quoted by : “Why am I the best? Because I score goals, others don’t.
“If you look at the statistics, I never score from close range, but from 25-30 meters or from a free kick. These are difficult things.
“Then, everyone is good at managing, but I don’t like making passes five meters away.”

Tottenham want to sign Hakan Calhanoglou to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Tottenham have done a phenomenal job in the last two transfer windows, but there’s still a lot to do.
At the end of October last year, claimed that Tottenham will try and sign Hakan Calhanoglou if they got into the Champions League and ended up losing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The Dane is almost certain to leave in the summer, and the report claimed that Inter Milan will demand a fee of £43 million to let Calhanoglou go.
If you’re ‘the best defensive midfielder in the world’, the above fee would be a bargain, but we don’t think Calhanoglou is anywhere near that.
That’s why we will be shocked if Tottenham make a move for him this summer.
