£40m Tottenham target is being tipped to ‘stay’ with his current club rather than join Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham have been linked with a number of midfield options heading into this summer transfer window.

Spurs have already signed both Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, but a more senior addition is being eyed at Spurs.

Conor Gallagher has been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham, while Scott McTominay has also emerged as a Spurs target.

Indeed, Ange Postecoglou’s side are said to be keen on the Tottenham midfielder, but, unfortunately, it doesn’t look as though this deal is going to get the go-ahead.

According to Alex Crook, speaking on the , McTominay is now likely to stay at Manchester United this summer.

Scott McTominay likely to stay at Manchester United

Crook shared what he knows about the £40m man.

“Yeah I think he will stay. I think there are other players who Ten Hag would rather move on sooner than McTominay. I think someone like Aaron Wan-Bissaka is far more likely to leave at this stage than Scott McTominay is,” Crook said.

McTominay departure didn’t make sense

McTominay has been linked with moves to both Tottenham and Fulham this summer, but these rumours never quite added up.

With Casemiro either on his way out or on the decline, Manchester United’s midfield depth isn’t great at the moment.

Yes, McTominay isn’t the most glamorous player to ever put on a red shirt, but he gives his all every single time he plays for the club and he’s a homegrown player.

McTominay leaving at this juncture doesn’t make a lot of sense, he’s still an important squad player at United.

In uncertain times at Old Trafford, the Red Devils need to keep players like McTominay around as they know that they can always rely on the Scottish midfielder.

Tottenham may have to look elsewhere for a fresh midfield addition.
