40-year-old open to talks amid Rangers manager search, Jose Mourinho is a big fan – report
Glasgow Rangers are currently on the lookout for a new manager following Steven Gerrard’s departure from Ibrox today.
The 41-year-old had been in charge of the Gers since June 2018, but has now linked up with English outfit Aston Villa.
Gerrard led Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title last season, ending Celtic’s nine-year reign as champions.

He leaves Ibrox with the Gers four points clear at the top of the table, in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals and with a shout of progressing to the Europa League knockouts.
Several managers have been linked with the Rangers reins, including Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Frank Lampard.
However, the latter looks set to join Norwich as Daniel Farke’s replacement.
According to , John Terry “would be open to opportunities” as Rangers continue to search for Gerrard’s replacement.
The 40-year-old was Dean Smith’s assistant head coach at Aston Villa for three years,
He helped Villa win promotion from the Championship in May 2019, but left the club in July as he wanted to spend time with his family.

Terry enjoyed an illustrious and trophy-laden playing career, and is highly rated by the legendary Jose Mourinho following their time together at chelsea.
In February 2020, Mourinho told Sky Sports (via the ): “Some [former] players, unlike in the past when you needed to prove yourself to get a job, in this moment you get a job without proving anything.
“So he could have chosen that way. Waiting for a big call. But he didn’t choose that way.
“He went the difficult way but probably the more stable way, being an assistant. Going to the Championship [then] coming to the Premier League.
“Taking time to reach what he wants to reach. It will arrive. So I am proud of the way he is doing things.
“We keep in touch when it’s possible, when we have time and when big moments arrive.”
